Marble Insights

Marble is classified as a metamorphic rock, which simply means that it started out as one kind of rock and through time, intense pressure and immense heat, it ended up as a different kind of rock. In the case of marble, it starts out as limestone, which is a soft stone composed mostly of calcite. Under extreme heat and pressure conditions, the calcite crystals recrystallize and bond together, changing the texture of the stone.
Marble quarries can be found all over the world: Italy, Greece, Turkey, India, Spain and the United States to name a few.
Italian marble is highly prized as being the most pure. The largest underground marble quarry in the world is here in the United States. It is the Danby Quarry in Vermont. The Carrara marble quarry in Chile is over 6,000 years old.
Marble has been used for thousands of years as a building material for some of the world’s most beautiful and important structures. The Taj Mahal in India, Tower of Pisa in Italy, the Parthenon in Greece, and the United States Supreme Court Building in Washington D.C. are all built with marble and they all have withstood the tests of time and the elements.
Marble is versatile, beautiful and restorable if necessary. It adds beauty and durability to all sorts of projects, ranging from commercial to residential. And, since marble can be renewed and restored, it is a great investment that will remain beautiful for years to come.

Marble Restoration

We can restore marble to like new —or better —for a fraction of the cost of replacement, and protect it from stains and etching.

Marble Repair

Do you have chipped marble tiles? Are there cracks in your floor or countertop? What about broken marble tiles? Before you replace your marble, consider having LaCasse Stone And Tile Care provide expert marble repair services. LaCasse Stone And Tile Care can fill holes in marble, fix marble cracks and chips, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, and honing and polishing to match the finish on the rest of your marble floor, countertop, or other stone surface.

Deep Cleaning and Sanitizing Marble

Marble cleaning processes vary based on the surface condition and type of dirt or oil being removed. Marble is easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services using non-acidic, highly effective cleaning solutions. However once wear sets in, creating hollows and low points for dirt to collect in, your marble can become difficult to keep clean. LaCasse Stone And Tile Care can assist you in not only cleaning your marble surfaces, but in keeping your marble properly polished, maintained, and free of scratches to help make regular cleaning and care of your stone easier.

Marble Stain Removal

LaCasse Stone And Tile Care can remove marble stains, as well as marble discolorations. Whether you are seeking guidance on how to do this yourself (see our Interactive Stain Management App) or want Se-In-Stone Restoration to treat your marble, the original finish of your stone can be restored.

Marble Refinishing

Is your marble floor or countertop too dull or too shiny? Call LaCasse Stone And Tile Care and specify the finish you need. If you have a new floor with some tiles that look glossier than others – let LaCasse Stone And Tile Care even out the finish for you. Whether you have or are seeking to acquire a gloss, semi-gloss or matte finish, LaCasse Stone And Tile Care can deliver a beautifully restored or changed marble finish.

Marble Honing

Does your marble have dull areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, etches, or spots? LaCasse Stone And Tile Care can hone your marble surfaces to eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a new marble surface, free of damage. With our marble honing services, our expert technicians can achieve a honed or a soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth.

Marble Polishing

An uneven finish, dull spots or etches can diminish the elegant appearance of your marble floors. LaCasse Stone And Tile Care can polish your marble using the appropriate diamonds or polishing powders to restore the finish you want, whether matte, semi-gloss or gloss finish. With our marble polishing services, our expert technicians can achieve a beautiful, glass-like polish.

Lippage Removal/Grinding

Are your marble floor tiles uneven? Do you want your floor tile flattened to the grout lines to facilitate easier cleaning? LaCasse Stone And Tile Care can grind away the excess stone (a process called lippage removal) to create a flat, level surface using state-of-the-art diamond grinding technology. Once ground to the level and shape desired, the marble is honed and polished to the finish you want.

Sealing & Protecting

Marble needs a little extra protection to inhibit stains and etching. We can treat your marble with premium quality solutions…..

Impregnating Sealers

Some natural stone types are more porous than others and the more porous the natural stone is, the more susceptible it is to staining. Your marble will be easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services, using non-acidic, highly effective cleaning solutions.

Once your marble is cleaned and restored, LaCasse Stone And Tile Care may recommend you have us seal it to enhance its stain resistance. We say,” MAY” because not all stone needs to be sealed. Highly polished stone may not even take an impregnating sealer. But, if sealing is recommended, know that sealing represents an inexpensive, preventive measure against stain damage because it buys you time to wipe up spills before they become stains.

Anti-Etch Treatments for Marble Tops

We offer state-of-the-art treatments to protect your marble tops from etching. Marble is acid sensitive and many people shy away from it because of this, but when your marble countertops are protected from stains and etching, you don’t have to worry about choosing marble for your kitchens, bar tops, vanity tops or where acid etching is a concern. Does Marble Require Maintenance?

The short answer is yes, marble does require maintenance. Regular cleaning with a stone safe cleaner is a great for simple day-to-day maintenance, but over time, depending on traffic and usage, your marble floors may start to become dull, become scratched or show obvious traffic patterns. Countertops can become scratched, dull and etched.
If these problems develop, you become more and more dissatisfied with the appearance of the marble until it’s time for another round of professional restoration. Ask about our regularly scheduled maintenance program which keeps your marble surfaces looking great all the time, without the need for periodic restoration.
